How to Export Content

Picking a Source Language

The first thing you need to do when preparing data for export, is to choose a source language in the 'Export Content' tab. To do this, please use the 'Select source Language' drop-down list.

You can access this manual via the “i” button in the connector page.

Connector version is displayed in the top left corner of the page for your convenience.

Selecting Content to Translate

When source language is selected, please pick the content you want to translate. Available content (pages) is represented in a tree-structured way in the 'Select content' area. For your convenience, you can easily navigate from this tree directly to a specific content with the content link.

Content shown here depends on a language you have selected. For example, if you choose German, the selection will include all the German content.

If you want to pick several pages, please move them to 'Content to export' section. In order to do this, just click the corresponding arrow icons next to each content element. In a similar way, you will be able to remove selected content, if required. If you want to translate all the content represented in the 'Select content' section, you can use 'Add contents' and 'Remove all the contents' shortcuts respectively.

You can also use a set of filters which will help you find particular content. Filter will only cover the content from the 'Select content' area. To open/hide filter settings, use 'Show Filer' and 'Hide Filter' buttons. Below is the list of available filter options:

  • 'Search' - allows you to search content by name. Search is triggered once you press 'Enter' key (with “Search” field focused) or click 'Apply filter'.
  • 'States' - allows you to filter content by state.
  • 'Last modified after' - allows you to search content which was modified after a specific date.
  • 'Last modified before' - allows you to search content which was modified before a specific date.

Use “Last modified after” and “Last modified before” filters together to find content that was modified within a specific time span.

Once relevant filters are set, please click 'Apply filter'. You can also use 'Clear filter' to reset the filters.

It is important to remember that 'Add contents' button should be used for the filtered content only. If you press 'Add contents' without setting any filters, you will basically add all the available content to the 'Content to export' section.

Content tree allows you to view and manage your content easily. You can overiew your web content structure and adjust its display by expanding and collapsing the parent entities. To expand\collapse content, click the corresponding icon next to a content item.

Alternatively, you can use 'Expand all'/ 'Collapse all' shortcuts to expand and collapse all the content in the tree.

Please note that if you only add parent entity out of the whole sub-tree for export, it will appear in the ‘Content to export’ as usual. However, instead of completely disappearing from the ‘Select content’ section, it will become greyed-out.

Once you select content for translation (transfer relevant content items to the 'Content to export' area), you can check and change the exported archive name. The default one is “‘langcode’_content.zip”. Once done, press 'Download' to download the archive.

Done! Now all the content you need is packed into a zip file and ready for translation
